Coming in Jan'25 - No Studio? No Problem!

Maybe you are starting out in professional photography and thinking “How can I do this business with no studio?”   Maybe you have had a studio for years and would like to transition out of it, but you aren’t sure how that business would operate.   Maybe you want to add location portraits to your business model.   The PPAM January program- “No Studio? No Problem!” is for you!

Join us for an in-depth day of learning as Michael Stone teaches his methods for working entirely without a studio location or even a home studio for the last 12 years.  All photography is done at clients’ homes (indoors or outdoors) or destinations.  All viewing and ordering is at the clients’ homes. Even the initial planning sessions are done in the home!

Mike will cover what equipment to take (you will be surprised at how minimal it is), various setups for different indoor and outdoor conditions, using minimal lighting equipment, and creating a great experience without all the comforts of a portrait studio.

Mike will also go into how he sells portrait orders in the home- samples to take with, equipment for projecting, setting yourself up for an impressive presentation, and more.  Also- how to talk to prospective clients about the benefits of not having a studio, rather than talking from a position of weakness for not having a studio.   It’s all in the mindset folks!

You will want to make sure to attend this program and start 2025 off right!

Michael Stone, M.Photog, Cr, CPP has worked in the portrait industry for 47 years; from a high-school summer employee to owning his own business.   Growing up in rural Indiana, Mike worked at a Mom & Pop studio for 11 years until 1990 when he moved to MA to begin working with Hilton Photography, a business with four 4 brick and mortar locations, 3 virtual locations seasonally, and a lab.  Over the years he has personally photographed over 10,000 seniors, thousands of families and children, over 300 weddings, hundreds of thousands of underclass portraits and hundreds of proms.

Mike started his own business in 2012, with no studio and no customer interactions in his home.  He used the experience of working onsite for years to build an efficient system for what to take, and what not to take, to jobs for the best results and ease of travel and loading/unloading.  He learned sales skills from the best people in the industry and built a solid, repeatable experience for clients that leaves them happy with the service and portraits.
