Photojournalism from News to Sports to Issues
Gina will discuss all aspects of photojournalism; from photographing, News, Sports and Issue stories. She will also discuss the editing process and ethics involved. Her near 40 year career has given her insight and experience in all aspects of story telling and documenting issues.
Her love of photography began in 8th grade when a friend helped her build a darkroom in a small basement closet. She began her career as a staff photographer at the Kennebec Journal in Augusta, Maine. After a year, she was hired at the first color daily newspaper in Maine, The Lewiston Sun. Wanting to spread her wings, she took a big leap and left Maine to work at The Sun in San Bernardino, CA. In 1992, she was named California Photographer of the Year. Two years later, she was hired at the Los Angeles Times. In 2022, she was named Still Photographer of the Year by the Press Photographers Association of Greater Los Angeles. Recently, she just finished covering one of the best all-time World Series.
